baron + baron architects are a passionate and creative RIBA chartered practice, specialising in high-quality, tailored residential design.

our studio is led by james and rosemary baron, nestled away in the heart of ashley cross. we design bespoke new homes, extended homes, converted homes, multi-unit developments, luxury apartments and a whole lot more…

we are a small, family studio with great energy and experience and we deliver crafted homes, whatever scale of your project.

with beautiful beaches and the purbeck coastline on our doorstep, our designs are inherently site-responsive to the beautiful settings around us. we believe great architecture should celebrate the character and attributes of its place (and of its owners).

our design process is all about working together to make the best of each member of the design time to deliver the highest quality for our client. we work with private homeowners and commercial developers to realise the potential of a site, unlock unique design opportunities and help secure added value to a development.

creative thinking is at the forefront of everything we do but we are grounded in the realities of construction. we take pride in guiding clients through the exciting, and sometimes daunting, process of the construction world. we are gaining a great reputation locally for delivering high-end technical packages for the luxury housing market.

we would love to hear from you if you have a project in mind…

James studied architecture at University of Plymouth, Portsmouth University and qualified from the University of Bath in 2015. He has spent a large proportion of his career focussing on the Stage 4 design and working closely with clients, external consultants, and also the Principal Contractor during the construction phase. While adept at the later design stages, James also enjoys seeing projects through all project stages and works closely with the team delivering the earlier stages to ensure the design can be resolved technically and cost effectively. James has experience of all forms of construction, including traditional construction techniques, along with modern methods of construction, comprising panelised timber frame, SIPS, SFS, ICF and hybrid construction comprising RC frames and SFS infill with rainscreen cladding systems. James is used to working with offsite manufacturers to coordinate their design proposals with those of the architect and other design team members.

  • Rosie Baron

Architect, Director (BA Arch, DIp Arch, PG Dip Arch, ARB and RIBA)

Rosie also studied architecture at University of Plymouth, Portsmouth University and qualified from the University of Bath in 2015. She has worked across many planning authorities, including sites with complex heritage and highly-sensitive landscape and ecological locations. Her passion for sensitive and well-considered design that is inclusive for all, is evident in her design presentations to clients and planners alike. Although her role is primarily focused through RIBA Stages 0-3, she enjoys working through with the detailed design stages post-planning and is well-experienced in coordinating with other statutory authorities and regulatory bodies.
