this family home in lilliput, poole required additional space and a refreshed layout to support a growing and sociable household. although already attractive, the home lacked the openness and functional arrangements needed for modern family living. our brief was to design a side and rear extension, improve internal flow, and enhance the first floor bedroom accommodation. this design approach reflects the principles highlighted on our about page, where tailored solutions are developed around the lifestyle of each client.

design development

the ground floor transformation focused on creating generous, open plan living areas for the whole family to enjoy . by extending both to the side and rear, we introduced a more flexible arrangement of kitchen, dining, and living spaces. crittal style glazing adds character and soft industrial elegance while drawing natural light deep into the interior.

a defining feature of the scheme is the glazed pink tile spine wall. this injection of colour establishes a playful identity and acts as a visual thread through the family spaces. the overall palette has been kept refined to allow this detail to stand out without overwhelming the architectural balance.

first floor enhancement

to support long term family living, the first floor accommodation was extended to create a vaulted master bedroom suite. the increased ceiling height and enlarged footprint offer a sense of space, light, and privacy. the vaulted form enhances the perceived volume and provides an uplifting environment distinct from the family areas below.

delivered through riba stages 0 to 4, the project was supported by thorpe engineering as structural engineer, mc plan and site services for building control, and thermal acoustics as energy assessor. this collaborative approach aligns with the methodology described on our services page.
