Branksome Park Garage

Project Type: Garage

RIBA Project Stages: 0-6

Budget: Confidential

We were invited to design a new detached double garage with sail loft, for our clients in Branksome Park. The setting was heavily protected with Tree Preservation Orders but we worked very closely with the Tree Officer and Arboricultural Consultants from the outset to define the optimum position on site, to both ensure suitable protection to the beautiful trees and to manage our client’s satisfaction. Exploratory trenches (dug by hand)  were opened up to establish the extent of rooting from the Scots Pine trees near the proposed garage location. The Arborioculturalist was satisfied that the minor work needed will not have a detrimental impact on the tree health or stability. Working closely with the Arboriculturalist during the planning design process allowed us to overcome arboricultural concerns raised by the Tree Officer (who initially recommended refusal) to gain a great planning approval for our clients.

The build is now complete and our clients are delighted with the end result.

"We would just like to say how pleased we are with the garage that James designed and the build quality. It has greatly enhanced the appearance of the house and front garden. Thank you to all.”
