located in penn hill, poole, this project transforms a simple bungalow into a modern, elegant family home through a combination of strategic extensions and complete internal reconfiguration. the design approach follows our commitment to creating tailored, efficient homes as outlined on our about page, where every detail serves both function and long term family living.

design development

the existing bungalow offered limited space and an outdated layout. our proposal introduced a rear extension that significantly improved flow and usability on the ground floor. by extending vertically to add a full new first floor, the home gained valuable additional accommodation while maintaining a clean, simple architectural form that kept the project within a controlled budget.

on the ground floor, the layout was reinvented to create large open plan family living spaces supported by functional utility rooms. this shift created generous proportions, improved natural light, and enhanced connectivity between internal and external spaces.

the new first floor allowed for a more balanced distribution of rooms. additional bedrooms and a master suite were created, offering privacy and separation from the busier family areas below. by keeping the overall form simple, we were able to optimise internal space while reducing unnecessary structural complexity.

a key design focus was the placement and shaping of windows. carefully composed window openings bring character and visual interest to the façade while ensuring natural daylight reaches the heart of the home. delivered through riba stages 0 to 4, this project aligns with the structured approach described on our services page.
